But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

If you are in a co dependent relationship, you are trapped in your Dream of the Womb with someone who you want to stand in for your twin but they cant. Of course they leave you alone and the Dream comes true - again.
