We had a good workshop in Ireland, with a group of trainees in prenatal psychotherapy. I did once give a powerpoint presentation as part of a workshop, but these days I just tell them the basics of twinning and the vanishing twin and we get down to business.
In Ireland we found that the four most effective activities in a wombtwin workshop seem to be:
a) working with the Alpha and Beta energy - how to get out of ones Beta space ( identified with the lost twin) ; the Alpha and Beta self; which energy is the one you live with every day?
b) working with personal space: asserting your right to space with firm biuodaries; resiting invasion, taking on other peoples stuff.
c) gender energy: living within your genetic gender endowment ( or not). The difference between male and female energy. The lost fraternal twin of the opposite sex.
d) the black hole ( the death of one's wombtwin) and how we carry it with us, how to let go and move on.
We are working on more, and we will learn as we go.
In the meantime we have workshops in Belgium, Portugal and New York City. If this kind of thing would interest you, either to come as a participant or to maybe get a group of wombtwin survivors or therapists together and invite me along, just get in touch.
When a twin dies before birth, the sole survivor needs help and understanding. Womb twin survivors are the sole survivors of a twin or multiple pregnancy. This group, 1 in 10 of the population, includes survivors of a stillbirth, miscarriage, abortion and a "vanishing twin" pregnancy. It is a story of a twin bond broken by death, leaving a lonely survivor.
